▌Event Overview      ▌About the Host

Wind Power Africa is the premier international event on wind energy in Africa hosted by the African Wind Energy Association in partnership with other African and international organisations. A powerful networking platform, the event brings together key African and international stakeholders from the public and private sectors with the aim to unlock Africa’s wind energy potential.

The opportunities for wind power in Africa and South Africa in particular are immense due to a favourable investment climate offering profitable feed-in tariffs for wind energy, tremendous CDM project potential, ideal natural conditions as well as an increasing energy demand.

Wind Power Africa 2010 took place from 12-14 May 2010 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre in Cape Town, South Africa featuring a high-profile Conference & Renewable Energy Exhibition, Site Visits, a Networking Cocktail and a Gala Dinner. The conference examined the current and future wind energy markets in Africa and highlighted attractive business opportunities, with in depth analysis and country case studies. More than 450 participants from 27 countries attended the inaugural event.

Wind Power Africa will return in 2011. For details please visit this website in the next few weeks again or contact cheryl@windenergyafrica.com.

The African Wind Energy Association (AfriWEA), a non-profit organisation, was founded in 2002 in order to encourage manufacturers, developers, governments, renewable energy owners and individuals to promote and support wind energy development on the African continent. In 2003 AfriWEA hosted the 2nd World Wind Energy Conference in Cape Town, which was a great success with more than 600 delegates from all over the world. With more than 700 members, AfriWEA is offering a powerful world-wide network for the wind energy sector in Africa.
